The German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - DFG) is strongly committed to equal opportunities for scientists and diversity in the German research system. This commitment is particularly reflected in the DFG's Research-Oriented Equity and Diversity Standards.
The DFG also promotes equal opportunities and diversity in research networks as part of its funding programmes such as Collaborative Research Centers (Sonderforschungsbereiche - SFB) and Research Training Groups (Graduiertenkollegs - GRK). Research groups can apply for the Standard Allowance for Equity and Diversity as a separate DFG module.
Within TUM, TUM ForTe (Research Funding and Technology Transfer) is your first point of contact and central coordination office for all forms of research and economic collaborations. We work closely with TUM Forte to support research networks that strive to create a diversity-sensitive culture with the help of the equal opportunities allowance.
- We advise and support research networks on gender and diversity measures, from the proposal writing and on-site reviewing process to renewal proposals.
- In cooperation with the research networks, we design initiatives, measures, and structures to promote equal opportunities and diversity and assist with their implementation.
- We identify the specific needs of research networks and provide support in monitoring / evaluating measures.
- We design tailor-made formats such as workshops, information sessions, mentoring, and networking opportunities which address the speficic needs of each research network.
