Prof. Dr. Felix Krahmer was elected as deputy TUM Gender Equality Officer. The term of office of the commissioners runs until September 2025.
Tasks and scope for action of the TUM Gender Equality Officer
The primary task of the University Gender Equality Officer and her/his deputy is to support the university in implementing equal rights (BayHIG 22/1). They are contact persons for students and academic staff. The office was established by law in Bavaria in 1988. The Gender Equality Office supports the University Gender Equality Officer in carrying out the equality mandate.
The University Gender Equality Officer develops and designs measures and events that promote women and equality policy. She/he maintains an exchange with equal opportunity actors throughout the university, Bavaria and Germany and is the contact person for equal opportunity issues in science for the schools , the university management and other (scientific) institutions.
The University Gender Equality Officer is the head of the TUM Equal Opportunity Conference. This is a body established in the basic regulations of TUM (GOTUM) for all those interested in equality at TUM. She bundles the information management for the network of Gender Equality Officers in the schools , to the Equal Opportunity Officers, to the Executive Vice President for Talent Management & Diversity and to the Vice Deans Talent Management & Diversity of the schools as well as to all diversity management positions at TUM.
Excellent network and well informed - across TUM and beyond
The University Gender Equality Officer is a voting member of the Senate and the Extended University Presidium. She/he is an advisory member of the University Council and has the right to be heard in the University Presidium. In the Senate, she/he works, among other things, to increase the proportion of women in professorships. In other bodies, she/he ensures that aspects of equality are taken into account appropriately.
Gender Equality Officers in the schools
In addition to the University Gender Equality Officer, there are Gender Equality Officers in each school. In some schools there are also Diversity Offices. In the Schools, the office of the Vice Dean Talent Management & Diversity has also been created.
The Gender Equality Office supports (not only) new Gender Equality Officers in the schools/faculties with its own seminar program. Here, TUM Gender Equality Officers learn about their tasks and duties and how to successfully demand and enforce equal opportunities. The seminars are intended to make it easier for new representatives to take up their elective office and to provide them with helpful information to make it easier for them to find their new role in the school.
