TUM addresses in its mission to develop talents in all their diversity into responsible and cosmopolitan personalities, to inspiring them and to promoting them. With the publication of the Gender Equality Plan (GEP), the diversity strategy has moved to a new level. The diverse measures are intended to offer each person the best possible conditions for developing their individual potential.
These measures relate to the following diversity-related areas:
- Data collection and monitoring
- Training
- work-life balance and organizational culture
- gender balance in leadership and decision-making as well as in recruitment and career progression
- integration of gender dimension into research and teaching content
- measures against gender-based violence including sexual harassment
Institutions seeking to participate in Horizon Europe, the European Union’s key funding program for research and innovation, and to act as hosts of an European Research Council grant holder from 2022 are required to present a GEP as stated by the European Commission. The GEP was compiled on behalf of the President, under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Talent Management and Diversity, in coordination with the Gender Equality Officer and the Equal Opportunity Officer and has been approved by the Board of Management.
Equality is an elementary pillar of TUM, which is committed to focusing on diversity and talent management. The implementation status of the measures in the GEP is checked at regular intervals and supplemented by other innovative formats and measures in the sense of a "living document".
