Gender Equality Officer

The Representatives for Equal Opportunities for Women in Science and the Arts (TUM Gender Equality Officer) are the central point of contact for female students and female researchers at TUM!

They support the university in fulfilling its gender equality mandate. The Bavarian Higher Education Act introduced the office of the TUM Women's Representative for Equal Opportunities in Science and the Arts (TUM Gender Equality Officer) in 1988.

The primary task of the TUM Gender Equality Officer is to ensure that female academics and students are not disadvantaged (BayHIG, Art 22).

As a voting member the Gender Equality Officer also takes part in the TUM Senate as well as in the TUM Extended Board of Management and continuously supports the gender equality efforts of the TUM Board of Trustees.

TUM Equal Opportunity Conference

The TUM Equay Opportunity Conference is headed by the Gender Equality Officer. This conference is established in the Basic Order of TUM (Grundordnung der TUM) as a panel for all members of the university interested in gender equality. The Gender Equality Officer leads the information management for the network of Gender Equality Officers at the departments as well as the Equal Opportunity Officers and all related diversity management positions at the departments of TUM.
