Laura Bassi Scholarship
As part of the Bavarian Equality Promotion, the Bavarian State Ministry for Science and Art supports talented women in science at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) through the “Laura Bassi Scholarship”.
The Laura Bassi scholarship program addresses particularly female postdocs and female doctoral researchers in their final phase of studies to advance their research projects in a targeted manner closely linked to TUM and to support them on their academic pathway.
There will be two calls for applications in 2025, followed by evaluation.
The submission deadlines for 2025 are June 15, 2025, and September 30, 2025.
Please be aware:
The funding comes from state resources allocated by the Free State of Bavaria for the Bavarian Gender Equality Grant (BGF) - program for the realization of equal opportunities for women in research and teaching.
Important binding conditions according to BGF:
- Amount and duration of funding
- The scholarship is intended to cover living expenses; in principle, no other gainful employment is permitted at the same time (with the exception of minor teaching work up to a maximum of 4 semester hours) or use of another scholarship. A combination of scholarship and part-time employment contract is therefore not possible.
- This is a research scholarship during which a specific research project has to be actively carried out.

The fellowship is named after the first female scientist, Laura Bassi, to earn a professorship (Physics) at a university in Europe.
